Introduction

EMDR Hong Kong (EMDRHK) sets a Professional Code of Ethics to ensure the highest standards of excellence and integrity in the training and certification of EMDR therapists.

Applicant’s Declaration

By applying to EMDRHK for training, membership, registration as an EMDR Therapist in Hong Kong, or certification, you confirm that you’ve read, fully understood, and unconditionally accepted all commitments outlined below. You agree to abide by these commitments when practicing EMDR therapy in Hong Kong or engaging in any related activities.

Commitments

  • Accurate Information: All information you provide to EMDRHK (e.g., about your education, training, employment, certifications, and counseling experience) must be accurate and truthful. Upon request, you must promptly provide verifiable support for your statements through documentation from recognized organizations or independent references.
  • Ethical EMDR Practice in Hong Kong:
    • Always practice professional EMDR therapy with genuine concern for your clients’ well-being.
    • Don’t provide EMDR training in Hong Kong without prior authorization from EMDRHK.
    • Respect client privacy. Don’t use any information obtained from clients for any purpose other than directly in service of that specific client. Don’t audio or video record sessions without a signed release form from the client before recording begins.
  • General Ethical Conduct:
    • Don’t engage in dishonest, fraudulent, or unethical behavior, including misrepresenting facts or spreading disinformation or unsubstantiated rumors about EMDRHK or EMDR practice in Hong Kong.
    • Don’t engage in any EMDR-related activities generally considered unethical or immoral in Hong Kong.
  • Compliance with Hong Kong Laws: Don’t engage in any activities that are illegal under the laws of the Hong Kong S.A.R.
